Discover: Patrick Watson

Patrick Watson plays good music... Especially for a gloomy and/or sleepy day. Not that it's boring, but it does have a good "I could sleep to this" feel about it. I'm looking forward to listening to his most recent album "Adventures In Your Own Backyard" start to finish soon.

Five For Friday: Random

Well, last week's playlist was pretty great and it came together quickly. This week, I've struggled with a topic and spent way too much time trying to figure out something great and after two hours, it just hasn't happened. So out of desperation I opened iTunes and hit shuffle. Here's there resulting playlist. If you hate it, blame iTunes.
Have a great weekend!

Rediscover: Nick Drake

It's Fall and that means it's the perfect time to listen to Nick Drake... Cello Song is the first song I ever heard from him. I remember sitting in my car in the parking lot of Media Play (RIP) and having my mind blown by this song. I am still fascinated by his music and his story.

Discover: Company of Thieves

I know I've heard of Company of Thieves before, but, sadly, it was just in passing and I never checked them out until now. My my my... Have I been missing out. Rocky jazzy floating through the ocean emotion. Not to mention they have a song called "Oscar Wilde" so that's an instant win in my books! Learn more about Company of Thieves here. (Sadly, they are currently disbanded, but the lead singer has something else going on.)

Five For Friday: CrAzY

My life has been stupid crazy the last few days and will remain that way for the next few weeks. This week's playlist is dedicated to myself and my crazy wife as we embark on this crazy, new adventure together. Have a great weekend!

Rediscover: The Silk Road Ensemble

These guys are amazing! I could listen to them all day. If you ever needed proof that music is a universal language, The Silk Road Ensemble is that proof.

Discover: The Wytches

Apparently there is a sub-genre known as surf doom; and apparently The Wytches are part of that sub-genre. Looks like I'll be learning something new this week.

Five For Friday: That's A Rap

I used to really be into Christian Rap when I was growing up. Started looking up a bunch of artists I used to listen to this week. It's all Lecrae's fault.
Have a good weekend!

Rediscover: Derek Webb

I have always liked Derek Webb's music. Lyrically honest and piercing, he's not afraid to say what needs to be said.

Discover: Gin Ga

So, these guys are pretty fun. I don't really know that much about them except I like what I've heard. Kind of 80's. Kind of Arcade Fire. Learn more about Gin Ga here.

Five For Friday: Dream On

This week's playlist is for all my friends who are chasing their dreams. That's what life's about... That and coffee... and bacon. Definitely bacon.
Happy weekend, everyone; and if you aren't chasing your dreams, then get to it! You don't live forever.

Rediscover: William Fitzsimmons

One of my friends introduced me to William Fitzsimmons about five or six years ago. If you're ever pensive or sleepy, his music will suit you well. Plus he has a fantastically admirable beard.

Discover: Spirit Family Reunion

Have some folky tunes on this Labor Day! If I can say one thing about this band it's that they do like to dance around on (and off) stage! Learn more about Spirit Family Reunion here.
