Rediscover: The Morning Benders POP ETC
You know it's been a while since you've listened to a band when you look them up just to find out that they changed their name two years ago. Oops! Anyway, I first heard The Morning Benders (now forever/currently known as POP ETC) when I bought their album "Talking Through Tin Cans". I'm looking forward to rediscovering this band with their new name and new sound.

Discover: Talisco
Why is it that artists from other countries will record entire albums in English and no one thinks a thing about it, but if an American recorded an album in a different language it would be totally weird? Maybe because most Americans are monolingual while the rest of the world is bilingual/trilingual? Anyway, I'm liking what I've heard from Talisco and I hope that you will too.

Five For Friday: Virginia Music Is For Lovers
It's my wife's birthday this weekend and what better way to celebrate than to dedicate this week's playlist to her! Happy Birthday, Jen! You're my best friend and I love you!
You should drop by her blog and tell her, "Happy Birthday!"
Have a great weekend!

Rediscover: Joe Cocker
I love Joe Cocker's voice. So gritty and soulful! Not to mention he can still rock 40+ years later. Oh, and as an extra bonus, you get Leon Russell in this video too!

Rediscover: French Kicks
If you haven't heard French Kicks, stop whatever you're doing and listen to them now. Their music will make your Summer even better than it already is. Good Music for just about any occasion; especially cooking or driving or walking (on the beach or just around town). Sadly, they are no longer a band, but at least they left us with a few albums to enjoy.

Discover: Father Figures
So, this video is a bit longer than most that I post, but it's totally worth the watch. It's a three song performance from Father Figures for NPR's Tiny Desk concerts. These guys are ridiculous. They have described their music as Zombie Jazz, but I'm pretty certain that it can be enjoyed by the living and the undead alike.

Rediscover: Listener
Listener is an explosion of energy and passion; honesty and brilliant lyrics. You'll probably either love this or hate it. I, for one, love it.

Discover: Vikesh Kapoor
If you're in the market for something new that sounds like Dylan's early work, Vikesh Kapoor is probably your best bet. Looking forward to discovering more from him.

Five For Friday: Independence Day
Ah... Independence Day... The holiday that marries mass alcohol consumption with excessive amounts of explosives like they were Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe. Stay safe out there and enjoy the heck out of your weekend!

Rediscover: Aqualung
I think I like doing the "Rediscover" posts on here the most because I get to go back through all the music that I've forgotten about and rediscover how much great music there is to go back to when I can't find anything recent worth listening to. That being said, it has to have been at least 6 years since I've listened to Aqualung, but I'll be digging his album out of my CD collection to listen to it this week.
