Patrick Watson plays good music... Especially for a gloomy and/or sleepy day. Not that it's boring, but it does have a good "I could sleep to this" feel about it. I'm looking forward to listening to his most recent album "Adventures In Your Own Backyard" start to finish soon.

Well, last week's playlist was pretty great and it came together quickly. This week, I've struggled with a topic and spent way too much time trying to figure out something great and after two hours, it just hasn't happened. Rediscover: Nick Drake

It's Fall and that means it's the perfect time to listen to Nick Drake... Cello Song is the first song I ever heard from him. I remember sitting in my car in the parking lot of Media Play (RIP) and having my mind blown by this song. I am still fascinated by his music and his story.

Discover: Company of Thieves

I know I've heard of Company of Thieves before, but, sadly, it was just in passing and I never checked them out until now. My my my... Have I been missing out. Rocky jazzy floating through the ocean emotion. Not to mention they have a song called "Oscar Wilde" so that's an instant win in my books! Learn more about Company of Thieves here. (Sadly, they are currently disbanded, but the lead singer has something else going on.)

These guys are amazing! I could listen to them all day. If you ever needed proof that music is a universal language, The Silk Road Ensemble is that proof.

Apparently there is a sub-genre known as surf doom; and apparently The Wytches are part of that sub-genre. Looks like I'll be learning something new this week.
